Warning: We remind You that, at pick up of vehicle, we will reserve on Your credit card an amount equal to 600 or 900 euros, depending on Car Group (please note that we do not accept prepaid or debt card). Please note that the reserved amount might impact on maximum plafond of Your Credit Card. If You buy an additional product (Super Cover, Reduced Super Cover, Glass & Tyres or Deposit Reduction Fee) the reserved amount will be reduced to: 200 euros plus amount of rental price and price of additional services, if any.



I. VEHICLE PICK-UP

Additional Drivers

Additional drivers can be added to the rental agreement when you collect your vehicle.
As with your own vehicle insurance policy, additional driver insurance has higher fee. This will be included into Additional Driver Fee as follows below:

Vehicle Group

Although we have a wide variety of vehicles in our vehicle park, specific brands, models or specific fuel cannot be guaranteed. Vehicle images placed on the web and in your voucher are examples only and may be substituted by any other vehicle within the group similar to the one you have booked.

In case of damage or accident we will provide you with a similar vehicle within the group you booked or, in case  no similar vehicles are available within the group, we will provide you with a vehicle of superior group (except cases when you are liable for any damage or accident as the result of breach of the terms and conditions of the rental agreement).

MY CHOICE

At time of pickup, you will be provided with a vehicle from your booked car class. For an additional charge, and subject to availability, you can choose from our My Choice range of premium models and features available within your car class. Please ask for My Choice at the counter.

Child Seats

Please request for child seat at the moment of vehicle reservation placement. You will be responsible for child seat installation in accordance with the instructions provided. Toddler (suitable for 9 months – 6 years old children) and Booster (suitable for 6 – 11 years old children) child seats are available for an additional charge as folows:

Documents Required

At the rental counter you will need to present your passport or ID card (with Roman script) as a proof of identity plus a valid national driver's license which has been held for at least 1 year.

Out of Hours Pick-Up

If your flight arrives late, out of hours pick-up is available if you show at the counter no later than 90 minutes after Rental Office closing hours and have provided your flight details. An additional service fee will apply as follows:

Supplement for Young Drivers

We admit young drivers who fulfill our minimal age requirements mandatory for driving the Firefly vehicles. Young Driver Fee may be applied in some countries to cover higher insurance cost for this category of drivers.

II. FUEL

Refueling options

Our rentals do not include fuel. All our vehicles are rented with a full tank of petrol and must be returned with a full tank. If the vehicle is not returned with a full tank of fuel, a Service Charge in addition to the cost of fuel will apply as follows:

    III. Car Insurance and Extensions

    General

    Car insurance includes:
    Third party liability : coverage on bodily injury to persons other than the driver and on property damage to anything other than the vehicle;
    Collision Damage Waiver (CDW): reduces your financial liability for damage to, or loss of the vehicle, its parts and accessories, except for theft or attempted theft or vandalism in excess indicated in the Rental Agreement; and
    Theft Protection (TP) : reduces your financial liability for loss of, or damage to the firefly vehicle, its parts and accessories, due to theft, attempted theft or vandalism in excess indicated in the Rental Agreement.

    You may extend car insurance contracting following options:
    Super Cover: waives your limited liability which would be applicable to CDW and TP insurances otherwise.
    Reduced SuperCover: waives your limited liability in case of damage and reduces it to €500 in case of theft;
    Glass&Tyre: waives your limited liability in case of damages to the vehicle's glass surfaces, headlights, rear-view mirrors and wheels.

    Third Party Liability

    Car rental rate automatically includes third party liability insurance which provides driver with coverage on:

    • Bodily injury to persons other than the driver; and
    • On property damage to anything other than the FireFly vehicle.

    Collision Damage Waiver (CDW)

    Collision Damage Waiver is included into car rental rate (except being optional for USA citizens travelling to Europe and being mandatory in Italy) and reduces your financial liability for damage to the FireFly vehicle, its parts and accessories, except for theft, attempted theft or vandalism, provided the vehicle is used in accordance with the terms and conditions of the rental agreement up to the amount of an non Waivable excess, in accordance with the following:

    Non Waivable Excess will not be applicable if you contract Super Cover option.

    IMPORTANT: If you choose to rely on your credit card or contract with another third party insurance product for cover, we strongly recommend that you fully read and understand the terms and conditions of any cover provided by your chosen provider before you decline any of our optional services. Without our Super Cover, should you suffer a mishap during your rental period, we will charge you the amount of the excess, regardless of whether you can subsequently reclaim this amount from the provider of your credit card or the third party insurer.

    Theft Protection (TP)

    Theft Protection is included into car rental rate and reduces your financial liability for loss of, or damage to the FireFly vehicle, its parts and accessories, due to theft, attempted theft or vandalism, provided the vehicle is used in accordance with the terms and conditions of the rental agreement in the maximum amount of Non Waivable Excess in accordance with the following:

    Super Cover

    Super Cover will waive your limited liability with Collision Damage Waiver (CDW) and Theft Protection (TP).

    This will waive you from any responsibility for damage to, or loss of the Firefly vehicle.

    Super Cover is offered in most locations but can only be purchased at the time of pick-up.

    Please note that as a general rule Super Cover insurance covers any damage to the Firefly vehicle except contributory negligence. Examples of contributory negligence include: driving on non-authorized roads or under alcohol or drug effect, contamination of fuel, loss of keys, traffic fines, damage of optional items such as GPS, child seat or any other additional element within this category.

    Reduced SuperCover:

    The Reduced SuperCover will waive your limited liability with Collision Damage Waiver (CDW) and reduce to €500 your limited liability with Theft Protection (TP).

    IV. Renting Period

    Damage

    You are required to complete a Report Form in full in the event of vehicle damage and pass it to Firefly when you return a vehicle.

    The Police Report should be obtained and signed by a local police representative as well as full contact data of implicated third parties.

    Should these obligations be disregarded, your insurance and optional services may be null.

    X-Border : This service allows extending your trip beyond the Italian borders
    (Spain, France, Austria, Switzerland, Germany, Netherlands, Belgium, Luxemburg, Croatia, Slovenia.). It is not possible to deliver the car abroad; in case it happens we apply a penalty charge of €1220.00

    Roadside Assistance

    At the moment of vehicle pick-up you will be given a contact of Roadside Assistance service available for our clients 24 hours a day during all the period of Rental Agreement.

    In case of breakdown or accident that involves the Firefly vehicle (for example: breakdown, natural catastrophe, vandalism or theft)*, you should contact as soon as possible with our Roadside Assistance service. We will evaluate your situation and, if necessary, your vehicle shall be either repaired by Firefly mechanic or towed to garage closest to your location. Should vehicle repair be impossible, a substitution vehicle shall be provided**.

    *If you have become a victim of vehicle theft or vandalism, you must immediately inform respective authorities about this incident (for example, local police). You must also deliver us a signed copy of the incident report within 48 hours.

    **In some cases we will recommend you to drive to the closest official garage of Firefly or Hertz in order to proceed with vehicle replacement at your own expense. We will always refund you these expenses given that the car incident is not a result of negligence of the Rental Agreement. Please note that due to the limited number of Firefly commercial offices it may take you long time to effectuate vehicle replacement and cause inconvenience.

    ***Please note that vehicle repair is strictly forbidden. Should you effectuate vehicle repair at your own expense, Firefly shall not refund you any repair cost.

    Premium Emergency Roadside Service

    Enjoy a worry free driving experience and remove the stress of motoring when you take Firefly Premium Emergency Roadside Service.

    Our service covers the recovery and call out cost incurred for flat batteries, lost keys or keys locked inside the car.

    If you accidently run out of fuel or put the wrong type of fuel into your car, Premium Emergency Roadside Service is there for you.

    Meaning we have you covered, providing you with total peace of mind whilst enjoying your rental. The cost of Premum Emergency Roadside Service (PERS) is 10.98€ per day.

    For example:

    Flat Battery
    We will come out to your location and help get your battery started. If we are unable to get you going, our recovery partner will take you and your car to the closest available Firefly location and get you back on the road.

    Lost Keys/Locked in Car
    In the event that you lose your keys or lock them in the car and we are unable to get you on your way, our recovery partner will take you and your car to the closest available Firefly location and get you back on the road.***

    Contamination of Fuel
    Let's be honest, mistakes happen, but don't worry, we will take the existing fuel out and get you back on the road in no time.****

    Out of Fuel
    If you should accidently run out of fuel, we will come out to your location and provide you enough fuel to get to the nearest filling station. *****

    Terms and conditions apply.

    Terms and conditions
    This service can only be used by the named renter and authorised additional driver's. Additional charges may apply subject to Firefly rental terms and conditions.
    If a roadside technician is unable to perform a jump start- charges may apply for a new replacement battery and fitting (charged only if deemed customer fault. i.e lights left on etc).
    ***Charges apply for any or all replacement keys. Charges apply in cases where roadside technician cannot gain effective entry without causing damage to the car.
    **** If the car has been started after refuelling the full damage charges apply. Responsibility for refuelling once the drain is complete is solely down to the renter. Fuel will be charged at the current Firefly refulling service rate.
    ***** There will be a charge for the fuel put into the vehicle which will be sufficient to drive to the nearest filling station. Fuel will be charged at the current Firefly refuelling service rate.

    V. RETURN

    Instructions for return

    You must return the rental vehicle during normal opening hours of rental location.
    If you return the vehicle outside business hours, you must comply with our instructions for returning out of hours and you will remain fully responsible for the vehicle the rental location reopens. In case you fail to follow these instructions you will remain responsible for the vehicle until we can have access to it.

    No refunds for early returns will be applicable.

    Late Return Fee

    Our rental rates are calculated based on 24-hour periods from the beginning of the rental.

    We allow you to return your vehicle up to 29 minutes (our “grace period”) after the agreed time specified in your rental contract without incurring a fee. Any time after that you will be charged an extra day´s rental at the current daily rate (including extra charges for any purchased options) for each day or portion of the day that the vehicle has been returned late.

    If you fail to inform and agree with the renting location that you intend to extend your rental term you will be charged an additional late returns fee of 40.00€ on top of the daily rate.

    This is to recover our costs of trying to contact you and arranging for a replacement vehicle to be provided for the next customer who has booked to user your vehicle.

    VI. Fees and Charges

    Reserve

    At the time you pick up the car, we will “reserve” on Your credit card an amount of 600 euros - for smaller Car Group (MBMR, CXMR, EDMR) and of 900 euros -for the bigger Car Group (IDMR, IWMR).

    Deposit reduction fee

    By accepting this option, you can reduce the amount of the reserve at the beginning of the rental. For 9.76 euro per day, the reserve is reduced to 200 Euro, together with the cost of any other option you have already purchased.
    This option is already in case you purchase SUPERCOVER, Reduced SuperCover and/or G&T excess reduction options that limit your responsibility in case of car damage or theft.

    It should however be noted that the DRF does not reduce nor remove the excess as described in the clauses relating to the CDW and the TP

    Fines and Penalties

    You are responsible for paying the penalty for circulation, improper parking, or other penalties you may have incurred during the rental. Relevant charges will be passed on to the customer, along with administrative expenses, as follows:

    - Administrative expenses for damages. 146.40 - €
    - Administrative expenses for fines. 30.50 - €

    Payment

    You must present a valid credit card you used to make the booking that must be in your name. Major credit cards are accepted (i.e. VISA / MASTERCARD / AMEX).

    Firefly does not accept cash as payment under any circumstances

    Firefly Italy accept Visa and Mastercard Debit Card, only for car groups B, C Please note that we DO NOT accept cash payments and ELECTRONIC DEBIT CARD.

    Fees

    1. The basic rental rate is for a minimum of one day's rent (the period of 24 hours from the start time of rental) and includes a fee for:
    Unlimited-Mileage.
    Breakdown assistance 24 hours.
    -Third Party Insurance.
    -All local taxes and supplements.
    - Partial collision damage waiver.
    - Theft Protection.

    2. Additional charges may include:
    - Fuel Charges (see Fuel)
    - Super Cover
    - Supplement for young driver.
    - Child Seats and other extras.
    - Loss of or damage to the vehicle.
    - Late return fee,
    - Additional driver fee (see Additional Drivers)
    - Extra cleaning fee.
    - Tolls or charges or fines resulting from traffic violations or improper parking during the rental period (see Fines and Penalties)


    3. All charges are calculated in accordance with our official list of current rates, exposed at all times at your rental location, subject to a final calculation at the end of the rental.

    4. The fee will be non-prepaid.

    Price categories

    Prepaid
    If your booking is prepaid, you pay in advance online for the standard rental rates, including extra options reserved at the time of booking online. You may incur other charges for selected services in the rental location or resulting from the use of the vehicle during the rental period (such as fuel charges or other charges for damage to the vehicle or traffic offenses, etc.) These charges are to be paid before or after the rental period, as appropriate.

    Please read the section on prepaid rentals at Cancellations, no show and changes.

    Non-prepaid
    If your reservation is not prepaid, you will pay the rental rate, including optional extras booked online at rental location. You may incur other charges arising from the use of the vehicle during the rental period (such as fuel surcharges or other charges for damage to the vehicle or traffic offenses, etc.) These charges shall be paid before or after the rental period, as appropriate.

    VII. Cancellation / No show / Changes

    CHANGES IN BOOKINGS

    Changes online
    You can change your booking via the Internet through the "Change / Cancel a booking" page. These changes are subject to an administrative charge of 30.- €

    * If you change your booking, we will cancel the original booking and will replace it with new booking fee which is calculated based on the availability and prices in effect at the date and time of the change.

    * This applies to changes made to:
    a. Name of the main customer
    b. Pick up location
    c. Date & time of pick up
    d. Date and time of return
    e. Category of vehicle

    If no vehicle is available for the place and date requested, change the date or pick up location and will be happy to change your booking.

    Changes at the time of pickup
    If you want to change your booking at the time of pickup of the vehicle, for example, to rent a larger vehicle or for a different period of time, we will try to comply, subject to availability, and we will propose a new price in the local currency.

    CANCELLATIONS

    1 -. Firefly allows customers to cancel a prepaid reservation.
     
    a. Through the Firefly website, in the "Change / Cancel" Rate option for fees and bookings.
    b. Contacting the Department of assistance online.

    2 - The full refund of the prepaid booking will be made as follows:
    a. If the booking is canceled within 7 days of its completion, the refund will be made in full.
    b. If the booking is canceled from the eighth day of its completion, the refund amount will be reduced in an administrative fee of 56.- €

    3 - Refunds will be deposited on the credit card with which the original booking was made.

    CHANGES WHEN PICKING UP

    If at the time of pickup of the vehicle you wish to rent a larger vehicle or hire a product for a longer period, you may do so, subject to availability, with the payment of additional charges.
    These charges are calculated in the local currency of the country where the rent is made and may be higher than those previously calculated

    RENTAL NOT DONE

    a) Prepaid bookings

    1. If you do not cancel your reservation prior to the pickup date and do not collect the vehicle on schedule, or fail to comply with the terms of collection, we reserve the right to charge you a fee in the amount of 119.- € in administration expenses and compensation for the cost of reservation and vehicle preparation.

    2. We will refund the amount corresponding to the prepayment, minus the amount of No Show / Rental not done, by writing, within 90 days from the date of collection of the vehicle, to the following address: Hertz Europe Service Centre, Swords Business Park, Swords, Co. Dublin, Ireland, requesting a refund and a copy of the booking confirmation.

    b) Not prepaid bookings
    The vehicle will be booked and available to you. In case you don´t pick it up an hour after the time and date set by you, or (in the case of rentals at the airport) 2 hours after the scheduled arrival time of your flight (only in case you have communicated your flight number), Firefly reserves the right to apply a penalty charge in the amount of 40.- € or an amount equivalent to the target currency, taxes not included. Amount applied to the closing time of the office, or midnight in those offices opening 24 hours. This fee shall compensate Firefly for the loss of income and expenses arising from the booking and vehicle preparation.

    EARLY RETURN

    Please note that we cannot give you a refund if you return the vehicle before the date and time specified in your rent.

    OUT OF TIME CHARGE

    Out of time charge:

    Any rental contract within opening hours, but from 23:59 pm will have an extra charge of 61.00 .-€. For this service it is essential that you provide your flight number. In case of delay in your flight, the client won´t be waited for unless the flight information is recorded at the time of booking.
    This charge applies regardless of whether the flight is delayed or on time, if the customer arrives later than 23:59 hours at our offices.

    PRIVACY POLICY

    You have the right to access, correct and / or request removal of personal information we hold about you. You may exercise your rights of access, rectification, cancellation and opposition by sending your request to Hertz Italiana S.p.A., con sede in Via del Casale Cavallari, 204, 00156, Roma, c.f. 00433120581, p.iva 00890931009;

    CODE OF CONDUCT

    All our practices are developed in accordance with the provisions of the legislation and the Code of Conduct of the National Federation of Business Rental Car without Driver (FENEVAL). See this code at your rental location

    VIII. Damage Policy

    Damage policy in case of vehicle return within the working hours of the rental location

    When returning the vehicle within the business hours of the rental location, it is important to remember to assess the effective conditions of the vehicle with the Firefly employee, who will be in charge of filling the Vehicle Condition Report pointing out the new damages, if any, that he might find, in light of those already assessed at the time of the pick-up. The assessment of damages will be done according to the specific Damage Matrix published on our website.

    Please note that, if you don't allow the Firefly employee to proceed with the assessment of the vehicle's conditions, the procedure described below and concerning the damage policy in case of out of hours returns shall apply.

    Damage policy in case of out of hours returns

    If you return the vehicle after the business hours of the rental location, the Firefly employee will not be able to proceed with the assessment of the vehicle's conditions with you. The assessment will therefore be made the following day. If you consider it useful to discuss with the Firefly employee about a specific matter, please contact the Firefly location where you returned the vehicle since the assessment will necessarily be made in your absence.

    In any event, the assessment will be made according to the specific Damage Matrix published on our website.

    The Vehicle Condition Report, completed with the relevant pictures (in case of assessed damages) will be sent you, together with a copy of your Rental Agreement, to the email address you provided at the time of booking. You will also be informed about this email through a registered letter. The email will clearly specify the monetary quantification of the assessed damages, if any, that - if you fail to object within the following 15 days after the receipt of the email - will be charged on your credit card.

    INTEGRATED NAVIGATION SYSTEM COMPONENTS EXCLUDED BY SUPER COVER

    Damage description

    Paint Panel : Single or multiple scratch totalling more than 1.5 cm.

    Repair and Paint Panel : Extended scratch and/or dents deep more than 1.5 cm.

    Repair and Paint Panel (heavy) : Severe dent totalling more than 40% of panel surface.

    Replace Panel : Broken panel or panel with damages interesting more than 70% of the surface.


    SUM THE PENALTY FOR EACH SINGLE DAMAGE SEPARATELY.

    Example: Wheel + tyre replacement, bumper repair+ front light replacement, lost key + car towing.


    The damage costs stated on the Damage Matrix Grid, including also the non waivable excess for damage and theft, are related the driven car group, NOT reserved or charged one


    Damage Fees € 146.40

    Penalties amounts are Iva (VAT) free, according to "art.15 comma 1 N.1 DPR 633/72"

    Gross negligence:

    When we have a Police/authorities report which clearly defines a heavy responsability of Customer in violation of Code street, i.e: Drunk Customer, drug usage, high speed extremely over limit, U inversion in main street). This violation are generally the ones which let us put of Customer name in Black list too (Do Not rent).

    Scenarios not covered by CDW/TP:

    1. Gross negligence as above

    2. Driver not declared to Firefly as additional driver

    3. Damage due to driving off road

    4. Hertz accessories or spare parts of vehicle missing/changed by Customer (NVS, Wifi, carpet, seat cover,etc.)

    5. TP excludes case of theft with lost key if through Security Manager involvment is clear the responsability of Customer

    6. CDW excludes burnt clutch only if it is clear/objective the responsability of the single Customer (technical report, status of vehicle, mileage, last clutch review, mileage driven by Customer before clutch breaks - Maintenance Manager is involved to coordinate analysis and clarify responsability of these cases)

    7. Tyre/wheel replace in case of puncture only IF Customer continues driving for many mileage without stopping ruining the wheel

    8. Contamination of fuel

    9. Special cleaning

    10. Violation of street code with Police report which certifies that (i.e red traffic light) (T&C states you can't drive the vehicle in contravention of any traffic or other regulations) - this is not applied always
